Donald Trump acknowledges the popularity of Bitcoin and has learned to coexist with it.
“[Bitcoin] has taken on a life of its own. It probably needs some form of regulation. But a lot of people are accepting it. There are more people wanting to pay with Bitcoin. And you’re seeing something interesting. Anyway, I can live with it,” he said.

This represents a significant shift from early 2021 when Donald Trump labeled Bitcoin as a “scam against the dollar” and called for regulatory oversight. Trump’s skepticism stemmed from the perceived risks associated with cryptocurrencies, such as volatility and susceptibility to illegal financial activities.

Since leaving office, Trump’s stance towards digital assets has softened. He has ventured into the NFT space, launching collections like the Trump Digital Trading Card Series 1 and 2. Furthermore, an Ethereum wallet linked to him moved millions of dollars last year.

Former President Trump has taken a vocal stance against the United States Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), citing concerns about increased government surveillance and control over individuals’ finances. He argues that CBDC poses a threat to the fundamental principles of privacy, freedom, and autonomy. Trump has promised to block its implementation if re-elected in the ongoing 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Notably, Trump is receiving support from cryptocurrency advocates within the current pool of candidates, including figures like Ron DeSantis, Governor of Florida, and Vivek Ramaswami.
